Obestat capsules are sibutramine hydrochloride. It is prescribed for the treatment of obesity. Obestat is made in India by Cipla Limited.
Sibutramine hydrochloride is sold in the UK and Europe under the brand name Reductil - Sold under the brand name Meridia in the US. Obestat is made in India. Even though it contains the exact same chemical as Reductil / Meridia its cost is significantly less than that of Reductil / Meridia.
Sibutramine is also sold in India under brand names Obestat, Sibutrex, Sibutrim and Slenfig.
Obestat Review
Obestat helps the seriously overweight shed pounds and keep them off. Obestat especially recommended for those who in addition to being overweight have other health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol. Obestat used in conjunction with a low-calorie diet. Obestat is recommended for obese patients with an initial body mass index > 30 kg/m2 or > 27 kg/m2.

Obestat - How To Take
Obestat is taken in 10mg doses once a day, though sometimes those who do not tolerate it well may take only 5g, and those who are resistant to weight loss may take 15g.
If you miss a dose Obestat (Sibutramine, Meridia) take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Obestat - How it work
Sibutramine (Obestat) produces its therapeutic effect by norepinephrine, serotonin and dopamine reuptake inhibition. Sibutramine and its major pharmacologically active metabolites (M1 and M2) have low affinity for serotonin (5 HT1, 5 HT1A, 5 HT1B, 5 HT2A, 5 HT2C), norepinephrine (b1 and b3, a1 and a2), dopamine (D1 and D2) benzodiazepine and glutamate receptors as well as lack monoamine oxidase inhibitory activity.
Obestat Side Effects
Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Obestat (Sibutramine, Meridia).
Side effects may include: Abdominal pain, acid indigestion, anxiety, back pain, constipation, cough increase, depression, dizziness, dry mouth, flu symptoms, headache, increased appetite, insomnia, joint pain, loss of appetite, loss of strength, nasal inflammation, nausea, nervousness, painful menstruation, rash, sinus inflammation, stomachache, sore throat.
